Fingerprint appointments
I received our new fingerprint appointments today. It took 14 days from the day I sent in the request until we got our appointments. The appointments are for Thursday, June 12 at 8 AM. Yeah, we live 3 hours away and our appointments are at 8 AM! Well, I think we will go up the night before and stay in a hotel. It will be fine, it just stinks that we have to spend money on a hotel to get our fingerprints done and Ryan has to take a day off of work. When we got our fingerprints done before, we had 90 days from receiving the letter to go and get them done, whenever they were open. Now, they have changed things and give you an exact appointment. Oh, well, at least they will be done.

Nichole,
You may want to try to call that office. It would be a shame to have to pay for a hotel room.
We ran into a similar situation. I had to be in CA the day of our appt, so we signed our forms & sent them back asking for a different date. Rather than waiting for their reply, we ended up going to their office NV without an appt. We both walked right in & get our prints done in under 30 minutes. They even took a photocopy of our paperwork, which the instructions say they will not do.
YAY for you! Our app't was at 8am too...kinda nice b/c we were home by 10:30a.m. I think we left a little after 5am and got there at 7- we had an hour to kill. It's not too bad. You're in and out in 10 minutes. Congrats!
I shouldn't complain. It will give Ryan and I a chance to get away by ourselves, which we haven't done in a long time. Plus, if I remember from our last trip, there is an Archiver's store pretty close!
Nichole, I would check with the USCIS, we just did the renewal and we could go whenever we had the time as long as we brought the appointment letter - it's worth the try:)
I hope it is a nice adventure for you both! ANd one step closer to adoption
I came across you site through our friends who are also adopting in Russia, John & Kym. We have two biological sons and we adopted our daughter from Novokuznetsk, Russia in February 2007.
